Rushmore Casino Blackjack

I’ll confess up front: Blackjack is probably my favorite table game, so I was eager to try Rushmore Casino’s versions.

The first option, a standard Blackjack game powered by Realtime Gaming software, moves fast. Its 3D graphics look a lot like a real casino Blackjack table, but players typically play only against the dealer and not against other players.

Blackjack operates in the same way as Rushmore’s other online games. Chips come in denominations of $1, $5, $25 and $100. To place a bet, a player clicks on the chips to set a wagering amount, which places the virtual chips in the betting circle between the player and the dealer.

In order to remove a bet once it’s been placed on the gaming table in Blackjack, simply click on the bet itself.

Whether you win or lose, a “Rebet (Amount)” button always appears at the end of a hand. This allows you to repeat the same bet quickly to play more hands.

Rushmore Online Casino Blackjack Rules

* Blackjack pays 3 to 2.

* Insurance pays 2 to 1. When the dealer shows an ace, the Insurance button automatically pops up. Betting insurance means the player immediately pays 50 cents against the possibility that the dealer has Blackjack or 21. Some players like to bet insurance anytime the dealer shows an ace; others are willing to take their chances on a higher total than the dealer’s even with an ace up.

* Dealer must hit until a soft 17 is reached. This means that strategically a player should always take a hit with a hand under 17. However, this becomes riskier the closer to 17 the player’s hand becomes, such as from 12 to 16, when the possibility of going bust is high.

* A player can double the bet on any two cards.

* Only 1 card will be dealt on split aces.

* A player can split to a maximum of 3 hands. Each split requires a new bet.

Rushmore Casino Blackjack Variations

In addition to regular blackjack, Rushmore Casino offers four variations of online blackjack.

More About Blackjack

Blackjack, also known worldwide by the French term vingt et un (21), is a fast-paced game that’s essentially a showdown between player and dealer. The object of the game is to score a higher total card value than the dealer’s, up to a maximum of 21. A hand that totals more than 21 is considered a “bust,” i.e., an automatic loss.

Players are dealt two cards face up, but the dealer is dealt one card down and one card up. Face cards and tens each are worth 10 points, while 9 and lower cards count according to their number values. Aces are worth 1 or 11 at the player’s discretion. Players have the option to “stand” – not take any more cards — if they think their hand will beat the dealers or “hit” to get another card if they wish to try for a larger total. Players also can “split” their hands if dealt any pair of cards, creating two hands out of one, but also doubling their bet. Players who are confident they will need only one more card may double their bet without splitting.

Players must really know their Blackjack strategy in order to win. That means learning when to stand, hit, split, double and bet insurance.
